Following from the recent discussions among the International Commission on Stratigraphy’s “Working Group on the Anthropocene,” Peter Haff (Duke, Earth & Ocean Sciences) has argued for his technosphere concept in order to explain the ascendant role global technology is playing in reshaping the functioning of the earth’s systems (e.g. atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere, etc.).
In this brief presentation I will share my work as an element of the Technosphere Research Project at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, which comprises a range of symposia that spur conversations among scientists, artists, and the general public in order to explore the origins and future itineraries of the technosphere.
